We are seeking a Head of Content Marketing with a proven track record of crafting impactful content strategies that attract new audiences and help drive adoption of Cloudways. You will be a highly strategic storyteller, with corporate experience marketing technology products, with a talent for breaking down complex concepts into helpful, multi-media assets. The candidate will be hands-on and results-driven, with a proven ability to use data-driven insights to increase website traffic, achieve strong content engagement KPIs, and support organic user acquisition targets.
Reporting directly to the VP of Marketing, you are an experienced team leader who is able to build and optimize content strategy and establish production workflows, collaborate cross-functionally, hold teams accountable, and create an environment where the team feels challenged, motivated, and empowered. You will help us navigate evolving trends in web discoverability and therefore must possess deep knowledge of how Generative AI and Google's algorithm updates have influenced organic content ranking and performance. You should be able to demonstrate real-world examples for how your content strategies have maneuvered your previous employer/clients through these changes. This role demands a data-first approach, where every content initiative is tied to broader business goals and can contribute towards KPIs.
To be considered for this position you must be able to demonstrate B2B technology marketing experience gained in a corporate working environment.
Content Marketing as a Growth Channel
- Develop and execute a high-impact growth strategy through content marketing, as an integrated part of how we approach new customer acquisition and revenue generation.
- Drive impactful content marketing strategies that support organic acquisition efforts, focusing on measurable results and business impact.
- Design and implement scalable processes and frameworks to maximize content output with structured execution.
- Own the annual content calendar, mapping strategies to different buyer personas and inbound channels to drive meaningful engagement.
- An ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities, continuously testing and refining content strategies targeted at our key buyer personas.
- Drive growth in website traffic using content to engage audiences, influence top of funnel acquisition, and ensure continuous improvement in key performance metrics.
- Set key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting frameworks to track how content strategies are contributing to web traffic growth.
- Stay ahead of Google's evolving search landscape and AI-driven search models to proactively adapt content strategies.
- Analyze SEO and content performance data to provide actionable insights and optimize strategies.
- Use advanced analytics to connect content efforts to revenue and customer acquisition goals.
- Advocate for content initiatives by demonstrating clear ROI and long-term impact.
- Lead and mentor a team of SEO specialists, content creators, and analysts, ensuring each team member is held accountable while staying motivated and challenged.
- Foster a culture of ownership, performance, and continuous improvement, encouraging innovation in organic growth.
- Create processes that drive accountability without micromanagement, allowing the team to operate efficiently and autonomously.
- Act as the bridge between the Content Marketing team and other key departments (Paid Media, Product Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Social Media, Comms & PR etc.) to ensure seamless execution of marketing strategies.
- Use OKR frameworks for goal setting and performance monitoring.
- At least 10+ years of senior management experience in Content Marketing and Organic Growth with a global B2B tech company, ideally in the cloud computing or web hosting sectors.
- Excellent command of the English language and grammar principles, with experience in editorial management, proof-reading, and hands-on writing skills applied to different mediums.
- Strong expertise in GA4, Google Search Console, and the latest AI-driven SEO and content marketing tools available in the digital marketing space.
- Proven success in customer acquisition using content strategies, with demonstrable examples of increasing website traffic, improving content engagement metrics, and online conversions.
- Global exposure, with experience working across multiple regions and markets.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- An eagerness to mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
