Quality Engineer L2

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated L2 QA Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in manual testing, specializing in UI and complex functional scenarios, particularly for AI/ML-driven applications. This role requires strong technical testing skills, proven experience in coordinating a small QA team, and the ability to serve as a key point of contact for client communication regarding quality, UAT, and the unique challenges of testing intelligent systems. You will be crucial in executing our quality strategy for high-quality, stable, and accurate software products.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Testing (Functional/UI & AI Focus)

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive manual test plans and test cases based on functional and non-functional requirements.
• Perform rigorous Functional, Regression, System, and Cross-Browser/Device UI testing to ensure specifications are met and the application provides an excellent user experience.
• Specialize in testing AI/ML features (e.g., recommendation engines, chatbots, prediction models) by verifying data inputs, model outputs, and overall accuracy against defined metrics.
• Identify, document, and track defects using a bug tracking system (e.g., JIRA), paying special attention to data quality issues and model misbehavior.
• Lead the effort for User Interface (UI) and Usability testing, ensuring design integrity and intuitive interaction.
• Collaborate closely with AI Scientists, Product Owners, and Developers to understand complex model logic and edge cases for testing.

Team Mentorship & Coordination

• Coordinate testing activities within a small team (1-3 members), assisting with task distribution and monitoring progress to ensure deadlines are met.
• Mentor and guide junior QA engineers on effective testing methodologies and the unique approach required for testing AI systems.
• Provide clear and timely reports on testing status, defect metrics, and overall product quality to management.
• Participate in peer reviews of manual test artifacts (test cases, test plans).

Client & Stakeholder Communication

• Serve as a primary QA point of contact for clients/stakeholders on assigned modules, clarifying requirements and communicating testing progress and risks.
• Manage the UAT (User Acceptance Testing) process with clients, including providing walkthroughs and tracking sign-offs.
• Effectively communicate complex quality issues, model accuracy results, and test findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Software Quality Assurance or Manual Functional Testing.
• Proven experience testing AI/ML-driven features or applications (e.g., validating output accuracy, testing model retraining cycles).
• Deep expertise in manual Functional and System testing of web and/or mobile applications.
• Proven experience in User Interface (UI) and Usability testing.
• Good hands-on experience in coordinating, mentoring, or leading small QA efforts (formally or informally).
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to interact professionally with clients and cross-functional teams.
• Solid knowledge of software testing methodologies (Agile/Scrum) and the SDLC.
• Experience with Test Management and Defect Tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, especially for root cause analysis in ambiguous AI environments.

Preferred Qualifications (A Plus)

• Basic understanding of data concepts and the role of data quality in AI model performance.
• Experience with API testing using tools like Postman or SoapUI for data validation.
• Knowledge of SQL to perform backend data validation.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB Certified Tester).
