Job Description:

A "Survey Head" in coal mining is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all surveying activities within a mine. This includes planning, executing, and managing surveys to accurately map and track the mine's workings, ensure safety, and support mine planning. The role often involves leading a team of surveyors, utilizing advanced surveying technologies, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Leading Survey Teams:
  The Survey Head will lead and supervise a team of surveyors, providing guidance, training, and support. 
  
  
• 
  Planning and Conducting Surveys:
  They will plan and execute various surveying tasks, including boundary surveys, mine mapping, and elevation surveys. 
  
  
• 
  Utilizing Surveying Equipment:
  Proficiency in using advanced surveying equipment like GPS, total stations, and photogrammetry is crucial. 
  
  
• 
  Analyzing Survey Data:
  Analyzing survey data to create accurate maps, calculate volumes, and provide insights for mine planning. 
  
  
• 
  Ensuring Safety and Compliance:
  Adhering to safety regulations and ensuring the accurate and reliable recording of survey data. 
  
  
• 
  Reporting and Communication:
  Preparing detailed reports and communicating survey findings to relevant stakeholders.

  Collaboration with Other Departments:
  Working with mine engineering and operational teams to integrate survey data into mine design and production planning. 
  
  

Qualifications:

• Education: A Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Survey is typically required. 
   
  
• Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in mining surveying, with 5 years as a Chief Surveyor, is often expected. 
   
  
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in mine design and survey software (e.g., Spectrum Survey Office, Carlson Surveyor + GPS, Trimble Optron, Surpac, Civil 3D Autocad). 
   
  
• Leadership and Management Skills: Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of subordinates. 
   
  
• Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. 
   
  
• Knowledge of Mine Operations: Understanding of different mine types and related surveying procedures. 
   
  
• Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to ensuring a safe working environment.
