Job Description:

A Lab Chemist (Coal Mining) is responsible for conducting chemical analyses of coal samples to ensure quality, identify impurities, and comply with regulations. They may also assist in research and development related to coal processing and utilization, according to a description by  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sample Preparation and Analysis:
    Preparing coal samples, conducting routine chemical analyses (e.g., ash content, sulfur content, moisture), and documenting findings accurately. 


  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
    Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness. 


  • Quality Control:
    Performing tests and analyzing data to confirm compliance with industry standards and regulations, according to HRBLADE. 


  • Data Interpretation and Reporting:
    Analyzing data, interpreting results, and preparing reports on findings. 


  • Research and Development:
    Assisting in research and development efforts related to coal processing, utilization, and quality improvement. 


  • Safety and Compliance:
    Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment. 



Skills and Qualifications:
  • Scientific Knowledge: Strong understanding of chemistry, analytical techniques, and coal chemistry principles. 
     
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment and analytical instruments. 
     
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify trends, and draw conclusions. 
     
  • Record Keeping: Strong record-keeping skills, including maintaining detailed logs of experiments and results. 
     
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and solve experimental challenges. 
     
  • Communication: Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely. 
     
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of and adherence to laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
