Position Overview:

We are seeking detail-oriented and customer-focused professionals to join our team as a Payroll Team Lead. 

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Supervision:

o Lead, mentor, and manage a team of payroll processors or specialists.

o Assign and monitor daily tasks to ensure payroll deadlines are met.

o Conduct performance evaluations and provide training opportunities for the team.

o Handle any escalated issues from team members or clients.

Payroll Processing & Management:

o Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for clients, ensuring that payroll is accurate and timely.

o Ensure compliance with all payroll-related laws, tax regulations, and internal policies.

o Review payroll reports to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

o Coordinate payroll schedules, including processing bonuses, commissions, benefits, and deductions.

Client Relationship Management:

o Serve as the 1st escalation point of contact for clients regarding payroll inquiries or concerns.

o Communicate payroll updates, changes, and issues to clients promptly.

o Provide clients with reports and analysis related to payroll activities.

o Understand and adapt to each client's specific payroll requirements and tailor services accordingly.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:

o Ensure that all payroll operations adhere to legal, tax, and regulatory requirements, such as wage laws, tax filings, etc.

o Stay updated on any changes in payroll regulations, tax laws, and benefits packages.

o Prepare and ensure timely filing of government payroll-related reports, such as tax filings, PT, PF, ESI and LWF filings.

System Management & Troubleshooting:

o Oversee the use and maintenance of payroll software, ensuring the system is up to date and configured correctly.

o Troubleshoot any payroll-related system issues, working with tech team as needed.

o Ensure data integrity in the payroll system by conducting regular audits and reconciliations.

Reporting & Data Analysis:

o Generate, analyze, and present payroll data reports to clients or internal management.

o Monitor and report on payroll-related trends and issues, such as overpayments, underpayments, or tax discrepancies.

o Prepare periodic payroll forecasts and financial reports for senior management.

Process Improvement:

o Identify areas for improving payroll processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.

o Recommend and implement best practices for payroll management.

o Lead or participate in process automation projects to streamline payroll tasks.

Confidentiality & Data Security:

o Ensure that payroll data is kept confidential and secure, following data protection regulations.

o Educate the team on the importance of data security and ensure compliance with internal protocols.

Job requirements

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, adaptability, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy in all payroll-related tasks. 

The candidate should have relevant experience in India payroll for around 5-8 years. 

Must be aware of Compliance and Income tax filings. Experience in working in Payroll outsourcing or a related service industry is highly advantageous.

This role typically requires a combination of payroll expertise, leadership experience, and strong communication skills to effectively manage both the team and the client's payroll operations.

• Attention to Detail: Accuracy is critical in payroll to ensure employees are paid correctly.


• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for client-facing interactions.


• Problem-Solving: Ability to handle issues and resolve discrepancies efficiently.


• Knowledge of Payroll Systems: Familiarity with payroll software.


• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of tax laws, labor laws, and payroll compliance.


• Organizational Skills: Strong time-management and multitasking capabilities to manage various payroll cycles and deadline
