Role Description

We are seeking a skilled Solar Design Engineer to design, develop, and optimize solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential, commercial, and/or utility-scale applications. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in solar energy systems, electrical and structural design, and proficiency with solar design software tools.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of solar PV system design, electrical circuits, and energy modeling.

  • Familiarity with local and international electrical standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC).

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Experience

2–5+ years of experience in solar PV design or related renewable energy projects. Proven experience with AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar design tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design solar PV systems based on site conditions, customer requirements, and regulatory codes.

  • Perform site assessments, energy yield simulations, and system performance modeling using tools like Helioscope, PVsyst, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.

  • Prepare electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), layout drawings, and bill of materials (BOM).

  • Collaborate with project managers, procurement teams, and installers to ensure feasibility and compliance with standards (NEC, IEC, AS/NZS, etc.).

  • Review and approve system components such as inverters, modules, mounting structures, and cabling.

  • Conduct shade analysis, string sizing, and voltage drop calculations.

  • Ensure designs comply with local permitting requirements, utility interconnection standards, and safety regulations.

  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting stages.

  • Stay updated on the latest solar technologies, codes, and industry trends.
