Position Title: Export Manager (Sales)
Department: Commercial / Sales & Marketing
Location: Chennai (with frequent travel to (Plant in TN) facility)
Level: L2 - Manager
Reports To: Plant Head / General Manager / VP Plant
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
CTC Range: ₹16-22 lakhs per annum (up to ₹35 lakhs including performance incentives)​

Company, a subsidary and Energy brand of large TN based business group, operates a ₹450+ crore state-of-the-art automated facility in Tamil Nadu, launching June 2026 with 500 tons/day capacity. The Export Manager drives international growth for rice-based ingredients—rice starch, protein, syrup, maltodextrin, IMO, and arabinoxylan—targeting food, pharma, nutraceuticals, and cosmetics sectors across Asia, Middle East, Europe, and North America. This strategic role scales exports from zero to ₹80-100 crores annually in three years, establishing presence in 12-15 countries.​

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Market Development

  • Develop export strategies for priority markets, including market research, competitive analysis, and entry plans (pricing, positioning, channels).
  • Create export roadmap aligned with company objectives; identify opportunities in Food, Pharma, Nutraceutical, Cosmetics sectors.

Sales Execution & Revenue Generation

  • Manage end-to-end sales cycle: leads, negotiations, contracts, fulfillment; build relationships with clients, agents, distributors.
  • Participate in international trade shows; coordinate cross-functionally for order execution.

Export Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee documentation (invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin); ensure 100% compliance with trade laws, customs, FDA/EU/FSSAI standards.
  • Secure certifications (FSSC 22000, Organic etc); manage freight forwarders, shipments (95% on-time).

Customer Relations & Service

  • Maintain long-term partnerships (85%+ satisfaction); handle queries, trials, feedback for product improvements.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track KPIs via CRM/ERP; prepare monthly/quarterly reports on revenue, pipeline, competitors.

Technical Competencies

  • International Trade: Expert in Incoterms 2020, HS codes, LC/DP payments, duty drawbacks, FDA/EU regulations.
  • Industry Knowledge: Rice ingredient applications, quality standards (FSSC, BRC), clean-label trends.
  • Logistics: Freight negotiation, container optimization, shipment tracking, marine insurance.
  • Digital Tools: ERP (SAP/Oracle), CRM (Salesforce/Zoho), Excel/Power BI analytics.
  • Financial Acumen: Pricing strategies, forex/credit management, P&L analysis.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Strategic thinking, results orientation (100% targets), relationship building, communication excellence.
  • Adaptability for start up environment, problem-solving, integrity in compliance/dealings.

Success Factors & Qualifications

  • Experience: 5-7 years' food ingredient exports (preference: rice/starches); proven revenue growth, international networks.
  • Markets: Success in Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe, North America; 40-50% travel readiness.
  • Education: MBA/PGDM International Business or Export Management; B. Tech Food Tech/Chemistry preferred.
  • Languages: English fluency; Mandarin/Arabic/German advantageous.
  • Fit: Entrepreneurial, hands-on for scale-up; team-building potential (supervise 3-5 later).
