Role & responsibilities

To lead and manage the end-to-end execution of new store openings, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades for a jewellery retail chain across India, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and brand standards compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning & Execution

  2. Lead planning and rollout of new store projects as per expansion strategy.

  3. Prepare project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
  4. Ensure on-time execution of all civil, MEP, and interior works.
  5. Coordinate with architects, contractors, vendors, and internal departments.

  6. Design & Brand Compliance

  7. Ensure store designs align with brand identity and customer experience goals.

  8. Review and approve technical drawings and BOQs.
  9. Work closely with the marketing and VM teams for brand-compliant displays.

  10. Vendor Management

  11. Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable contractors and vendors.

  12. Negotiate contracts, rates, and service terms.
  13. Monitor vendor performance and ensure quality and safety compliance.

  14. Budgeting & Cost Control

  15. Prepare and manage project budgets.

  16. Monitor expenditures and take corrective action for cost overruns.
  17. Approve purchase orders and vendor bills as per authority limits.

  18. Cross-Functional Coordination

  19. Liaise with the operations, IT, security, VM, and HR teams for readiness before store launch.

  20. Ensure utility services (electricity, water, internet, HVAC, etc.) are in place.
  21. Support license and statutory compliance related to retail projects.

  22. Renovations & Maintenance Projects

  23. Plan and execute renovation of existing stores without affecting business continuity.

  24. Oversee fit-out upgrades and refurbishments.

  25. Team Management

  26. Lead a team of project managers, site engineers, and support staff.

  27. Guide and mentor the team to maintain high-quality standards and accountability.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Graduate in Engineering (preferred).
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification (added advantage).
  • Proven experience in retail projects, ideally in jewellery/luxury sector.
  • Strong understanding of MEP, civil, interior, and HVAC systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

KPIs:

  • Number of stores opened on time and within budget.
  • Cost savings through vendor and resource optimization.
  • Quality audits and snag-free store handovers.
  • Project cycle time and downtime minimization.
  • Team productivity and vendor performance ratings.

Preferred candidate profile

Educational Qualification:

  • Graduate in any discipline of Engineering
  • MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, or related field (preferred)
