Sap MDM Specialist

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Master Data Quality Management

• Perform routine cleansing, validation, enrichment, and maintenance of product and pricing master data within SAP.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and adherence to governance rules.
• Implement data entry standards for format, structure, and mandatory attributes across the product lifecycle.

2. Master Data Governance & Compliance

• Support development, enforcement, and documentation of governance policies for Product Master Data.
• Ensure all product data aligns with organizational, commercial, supply chain, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Maintain governance documentation and participate in periodic audits and compliance reviews.

3. Master Data Change Management

• Manage product master data creation, updates, and modifications while ensuring strict adherence to change control processes.
• Work closely with IT, Product Management, and Operations to ensure accurate and timely updates.
• Serve as custodian for data approval workflows and validation checks.

4. Metadata Management Support

• Assist in maintaining metadata including attribute definitions, data lineage, ownership roles, and governance structure.
• Promote awareness and understanding of metadata standards across teams.
• Contribute to developing metadata frameworks that support scalable MDM operations.

5. Training, Documentation & Stakeholder Support

• Provide training to internal teams on product master data guidelines, processes, and tools.
• Identify systemic data issues and collaborate with technology teams to resolve root causes.
• Develop and maintain documentation, SOPs, and user guides for MDM processes.

6. Issue Resolution & Root Cause Analysis

• Address and troubleshoot master data discrepancies, conflicts, and system issues.
• Partner with IT, Data Governance, and Business Operations to drive swift issue resolution.
• Provide support during audits, data clean-ups, and change management initiatives.

7. Monitoring & Reporting

• Continuously monitor master data health using dashboards, exception reports, and KPI metrics.
• Generate periodic data quality reports for leadership, highlighting gaps, trends, and improvement opportunities.
• Implement proactive controls to reduce recurring data issues.

8. Continuous Improvement & MDM Enhancements

• Identify opportunities to optimize Product Master Data workflows, governance processes, and SAP data structures.
• Contribute to strategic MDM initiatives focused on scalability, automation, and standardization.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to improve end-to-end product data lifecycle efficiency.

9. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Product Management, Customer Care, Supply Chain, Field Service, Finance, and IT stakeholders.
• Support internal and external teams for all queries related to Product Master Data.
• Act as a liaison between business teams and technical teams regarding SAP master data requirements.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree (B.E / B.Tech / BS) or Master's degree (MS) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Data Management, Master Data Management, or Data Stewardship.
• Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in SAP Material Master (SAP MDM).

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Experience in Salesforce or CPQ platforms is highly preferred.
• Prior experience in MDM, Data Steward roles, or involvement in governance frameworks is a strong advantage.

Work Model

• Hybrid Role – Candidate must work out of the Pune office based on project requirements.
