Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely salary disbursements, statutory compliance, and audit readiness. This role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of payroll accounting, tax regulations, and employee reimbursement processes.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Accounting & Processing:
- Process monthly payroll for employees across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy in earnings, deductions, and net pay.
- Perform month-end payroll accruals and reconciliations based on payroll master's and flexible benefit claims.
- Post accounting entries include salary, bonuses, incentives, and statutory liabilities (PF, PT, TDS).
Audit Management:
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors for statutory, tax, and IFC audits.
- Prepare and maintain audit trackers, walkthrough samples, and SL-GL reconciliations.
- Ensure timely submission of audit samples and documentation, including salary revisions, joiner/leaver data, and compliance reports.
MIS & Reporting:
- Generate and analyze monthly MIS reports on payroll costs, headcount, and statutory remittances.
- Support leadership with ad hoc reports and data insights for decision-making.
Reimbursement & IT Saving Proofs Validation:
- Validate employee reimbursement claims (LTA, medical, telephone, etc.) against policy and documentation.
- Manage IPSF (Investment Proof Submission Form) collection, validation, and year-end closure activities.
Statutory Compliance:
- Ensure timely remittance and filing of statutory dues, including PF, ESI, PT, and TDS.
- Maintain compliance with 23+ central and state labour laws and support labour inspections as needed.
- Track and report delays or discrepancies in remittances with corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in commerce, Accounting, or related field.
- 6–8 years of experience in payroll accounting and audit in a mid-to-large organisation.
- Strong knowledge of Indian payroll laws, tax regulations, and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in payroll software and MS Excel.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with audit coordination and statutory reporting.
- Familiarity with the SNOW ticketing system and payroll helpdesk operations.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written communications).
- A solution-oriented approach to tasks, and should be able to work independently.
- Ability to work in a target-oriented environment and under pressure.
- Flexible, committed and driven. Should be able to manage sensitive data with integrity.
