Role Overview

The Purchase Manager – Fruits & Vegetables will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement of fresh produce directly from farmers and mandis. The role demands strong sourcing skills, a deep understanding of seasonal availability, pricing dynamics, quality standards, and the ability to build and maintain farmer/vendor relationships. This is a critical role ensuring product freshness, cost efficiency, and zero wastage across Ueir's retail and online platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement & Sourcing

  • Source fresh fruits and vegetables directly from farmers, FPOs, and wholesale markets
  • Identify new farmer clusters and organic-certified growers for long-term partnerships
  • Ensure daily and weekly procurement planning based on sales demand forecasts
  • Negotiate rates and fix daily/weekly price lists based on market trends and margins

2. Quality Control & Standards

  • Ensure strict quality checks during inwarding at the procurement point
  • Maintain freshness, hygiene, and organic compliance at all stages
  • Work with farm team to guide farmers on Ueir's quality protocols

3. Inventory & Logistics Coordination

  • Coordinate with warehouse and retail teams to ensure timely inwarding and distribution
  • Minimize wastage and overstocking through optimal procurement planning
  • Monitor cold chain logistics, vehicle movement, and last-mile delivery to stores

4. Vendor & Farmer Relationship Management

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with key farmer groups, mandis, and aggregators
  • Set clear expectations and payment timelines with all vendors
  • Track and resolve grievances from vendor/farmer side, if any

5. Price Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor mandi prices daily and adjust purchase strategy accordingly
  • Maintain purchase MIS reports, cost sheets, and savings reports
  • Collaborate with accounts team for timely invoice processing and settlements

Key Requirements Qualifications:

  • Graduate / Postgraduate in Agriculture, Agri-Business, Supply Chain, or related fields
  • Diploma in Agri-Marketing or Retail Management is a plus

Experience:

  • 4–8 years in fruits & vegetables procurement
  • Experience in sourcing from farmgate/mandis and managing cold chain logistics is a must

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of seasonal produce, regional varieties, and mandi pricing
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • High coordination ability with field team, store operations, and logistics
  • Working knowledge of Excel, WhatsApp/SaaS-based procurement tools
  • Willingness to travel extensively to farms and procurement centers

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15, ₹20,000.00 per month
