Junior Civil Site Engineer – Roles and Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Site Supervision & Execution

• Assist in the day-to-day management of the construction site.
• Ensure that work is executed as per approved drawings, design, and specification.
• Monitor and supervise construction activities such as concreting, brickwork, plastering, waterproofing, etc.
• Ensure safety and quality compliance at all times.

2. Measurement & Reporting

• Take accurate measurements of work done for billing purposes.
• Prepare and maintain daily progress reports (DPR).
• Assist in maintaining documentation for project tracking and audits.

3. Quality Control

• Inspect materials delivered to the site and verify compliance with quality standards.
• Coordinate with vendors/suppliers for timely and correct delivery of materials.

• Conduct checks on workmanship and report any deviations to the site in-charge.

• Coordination

• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and workers to ensure smooth progress.

• Liaise with structural engineers, architects, and senior engineers for technical clarifications.
• Support the procurement team by giving timely inputs on material requirements.

5. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure safety regulations and site safety protocols are followed.
• Report accidents, hazards, or unsafe practices immediately.
• Maintain housekeeping and environmental hygiene at the site.

6. Planning Support

• Assist the senior site engineer/project manager in preparing short-term schedules.
• Track availability of resources and raise alerts for shortages.
• Help identify project bottlenecks and propose solutions.

7. Documentation

• Maintain site records, including labor attendance, site instructions, and drawing registers.
• Assist in preparing checklists for quality and safety audits.
• Support in filing and organizing project documents.

Targets / KRAs – Junior Civil Site Engineer

1. Daily Site Supervision

• Ensure 100% presence at site during working hours.
• Maintain daily work log with updates on labor count, progress, material usage, and site photos.

2. Execution as per Drawings

• Ensure execution strictly as per structural, architectural & MEP drawings.
• Report any deviations or clashes immediately to the senior engineer/project manager.

3. Quality Control

• Ensure correct mix ratios, material usage, curing processes, and workmanship quality.
• Conduct daily checks for shuttering, reinforcement, plastering, waterproofing, etc.

4. Safety Compliance

• Enforce PPE usage and basic safety protocols on-site.
• Report and document near-miss or unsafe activities.

5. Progress Monitoring

• Complete assigned scope within daily/weekly targets.
• Submit weekly progress reports to the senior engineer or project manager.

6. Material Management

• Monitor material consumption and wastage.
• Assist in stock checks, ensure proper storage, and avoid pilferage or excess usage.

7. Labor Supervision

• Supervise and manage daily labor productivity (mason, bar benders, carpenters, helpers, etc.).
• Minimize idle time and improve work efficiency.

8. Coordination with Contractors

• Coordinate with site contractors for smooth work execution.
• Assist in measurement verification and quality checks before billing.

9. Site Cleanliness & Discipline

• Maintain site cleanliness, segregation of materials, and structured work areas.
• Ensure that tools and equipment are handled and stored properly.

10. Reporting & Documentation

• Submit:
• Daily progress report (DPR)
• Site photo log
• Material inward & outward register
• Labor attendance sheet
