Support - SMS - QC - Steel

To assist the Quality Department in implementing and maintaining quality standards for stainless steel seamless pipe production. The trainee will support inspection, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement activities to ensure products meet internal and customer specifications.

Principal Accountabilities*

1. Incoming Material Inspection

2. Assist in checking and verifying the quality of raw materials (billets, rods, etc.) as per specifications.

3. Record and maintain inspection data for traceability.

4. In-Process Quality Control

5. Monitor various stages of pipe manufacturing (piercing, rolling, heat treatment, pickling, sizing, etc.) to ensure adherence to process parameters.

6. Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of pipes during production.
7. Identify and report process deviations or defects to the Quality Engineer.

8. Final Inspection and Testing

9. Assist in conducting final inspection of finished pipes as per ASTM, ASME, EN, or API standards.

10. Support non-destructive testing (NDT) activities like Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing, and Hydrostatic Testing.
11. Verify product marking, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy before dispatch.

12. Documentation and Record Keeping

13. Maintain inspection reports, test certificates, calibration records, and quality control documentation.

14. Assist in preparing Inspection Test Plans (ITP), Quality Control Plans (QCP), and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
15. Ensure proper filing and traceability of all quality-related documents.

16. Quality System Support

17. Participate in the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / IATF 16949 quality management systems.

18. Support internal and external quality audits by providing necessary data and documentation.
19. Contribute to continual improvement and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) programs.

20. Testing and Calibration Support

21. Assist in calibration of measuring instruments, gauges, and testing equipment.

22. Coordinate with the laboratory for chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical testing.

23. Customer Support & Compliance

24. Support third-party inspection agencies and customer representatives during audits or inspections.

25. Ensure customer specifications and quality requirements are met before dispatch.

26. Safety and 5S Implementation

27. Follow all plant safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

28. Participate in 5S, Kaizen, and other quality improvement activities.

29. Learning and Skill Development

30. Continuously learn about quality tools, inspection techniques, and process improvement methods.

31. Gain exposure to international standards and certifications applicable to stainless steel seamless pipes.
