Role Summary
The Mechanical Engineer will lead the mechanical design, prototyping, product refinement, and manufacturing readiness of Neo Risers' physical creativity kits. The role requires expertise in materials, child-safe product design, mechanism design, tolerance engineering, as well as close coordination with fabrication vendors and mass-manufacturing partners. The role is ONSITE at our office in IIT Delhi.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end mechanical design and engineering for physical toolkit modules (cubes, tetrahedrons, joineries, mechanical components).
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, tolerance stacks, and BOM documentation.
- Create functional prototypes using in-house prototyping tools and external fabrication methods (3D printing, CNC, injection-molding vendors).
- Optimize components for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
- Collaborate with industrial designers, electronics engineers (if needed), and product teams to integrate physical modules with the digital CreatoFit ecosystem.
- Oversee pilot manufacturing batches (3,000–10,000 units), quality checks, and continuous design improvement.
- Work with tooling vendors to refine molds, assembly jigs, and production tolerances.
- Perform failure mode and reliability analysis (FMEA), stress testing, and long-term durability evaluation.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation for internal reviews and IP filings.
Required Qualifications
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related specialization.
- 0-3 years of experience in product design, consumer product engineering, or toy/learning aids/IoT hardware domains.
- Strong proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks/Fusion 360/Creo) and drafting standards.
- Experience with injection molding, die-casting, plastic part design, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of materials, tolerances, and safety standards for child-facing products.
- Demonstrated ability to prototype quickly and iterate based on testing feedback.
- Understanding of DFM/DFA principles and supplier coordination.
- Analytical skills in structural analysis, mechanisms, and simple simulations.
Preferred Experience
- Experience designing toys, educational kits, creative toolkits, or K–12 learning products.
- Exposure to bioplastics, sustainable materials, and eco-friendly manufacturing methods.
- Experience in working with mass-manufacturing vendors in India or abroad.
- Familiarity with early-stage startup environments.
