We have urgent opening for Head, Environment, Health & Safety in mumbai with a well known real estate company.

Role & responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and direction for the organisations Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) agenda across all real estate projects. The role ensures a culture of safety, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and sustainable practices while driving continuous improvement in quality, health, and safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic EHS Leadership

  2. Define, develop, and implement the organisation's EHS strategy in alignment with corporate objectives, sustainability commitments, and regulatory requirements.

  3. Establish and maintain a robust QHSE governance framework across all project sites.

  4. Policy, Standards & Compliance

  5. Ensure adherence to all applicable EHS legislation, industry codes, and global standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, Environment Protection Act, OSHA).

  6. Formulate, review, and update EHS policies, procedures, and SOPs.

  7. Operational Excellence

  8. Oversee the deployment of EHS resources across sites, ensuring effective quality and safety supervision.

  9. Approve and monitor Quality Assurance Plans in collaboration with site teams and process owners (MEP, Project Execution, etc.).

  10. Ensure all sites implement robust safety processes, PPE usage, and hazard controls.

  11. Risk Management & Incident Control

  12. Lead enterprise-wide risk assessment, hazard identification, and mitigation planning.

  13. Oversee the development of site-specific emergency response and disaster recovery plans.

  14. Investigate incidents, ensure root cause analysis, and drive corrective/preventive actions.

  15. Audit & Performance Monitoring

  16. Conduct periodic and surprise safety, environmental, and quality audits.

  17. Monitor KPIs such as LTIFR, incident frequency, audit compliance scores, and training effectiveness.

  18. Implement digital EHS management tools and analytics for proactive monitoring.

  19. Training & Culture Building

  20. Foster a safety-first culture through continuous training, engagement, and communication initiatives.

  21. Conduct leadership-level and workforce EHS workshops to strengthen compliance awareness.

  22. Stakeholder Management

  23. Liaise with government bodies, industry associations, contractors, and consultants to ensure compliance and adopt best practices.

  24. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Project Site Heads, Engineering Teams) for integrated quality and safety execution.

  25. Sustainability & ESG Integration

  26. Drive environmental conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable construction practices.

  27. Report EHS performance metrics for ESG disclosures and sustainability reporting.

  28. Team Leadership

  29. Lead, mentor, and appraise the QHSE team across all project sites.

  30. Cascade organizational goals, provide career development, and ensure team capability building.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Science/Environment or related field (mandatory)

  • MBA or equivalent (preferred)

  • Safety / QHSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, ISO Lead Auditor)

  • Experience:

  • 15+ years in EHS/Quality Management within large-scale commercial & residential real estate projects, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
