Role & responsibilities

* Installation, configuration, patching, and upgrading of database software.

* Performance tuning (queries, server configuration, indexing, etc.) to ensure optimal database performance.

  • Backup, recovery, restore operations; designing disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensuring availability, reliability, and security of databases.
  • Monitoring and maintaining database health (storage, capacity planning, maintenance).
  • Writing and optimizing stored procedures, triggers, views as needed.
  • Collaborating with DevOps / infrastructure teams for scripting / automation.
  • Watch across 24x7 operational support, oncall, incident management (depending on employer).
  • Ensuring compliance with security, data protection, regulatory requirements (permission, encryption, audits).

Preferred candidate profile

* Handson experience with one or more RDBMS: Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of backup/recovery, high availability setups (e.g., clustering, replication).
  • Skills in performance tuning, query optimization.
  • Experience with Linux (or appropriate server OS) and shell scripting.
  • Understanding of database security and permissions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems in production environment under pressure.
  • Good communication skills & ability to work collaboratively.


• Experience in cloud databases / managed DB services (AWS RDS / Azure / GCP).

  • Certifications (Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified, etc.).
  • Experience with database automation, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to NoSQL or bigdata databases (bonus).
