We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manager - SOC Operations to lead our Security Operations Center. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day security monitoring, incident response, threat detection, and vulnerability management processes. He/She will lead a team of analysts, manage relationships with MSSPs, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure rapid detection, containment, and eradication of cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of L1 analysts.
  • Conduct performance reviews and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure 24x7 SOC operations through in-house resources and/or MSSP partnerships.
  • Coordinate and oversee incident detection, triage, response, and post-incident reviews.
  • Track incidents and ensure response and containment within SLA.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for MSSP engagements.
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and SLAs for MSSPs involved in monitoring, detection, and response.
  • Review weekly/monthly MSSP dashboards, alerts, and incident reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Conduct performance assessments and audits of MSSP services.
  • Work closely with MSSPs to tune rules, onboard new log sources, and enhance threat detection use cases.
  • Manage and optimize use of SIEM, SOAR, EDR, IDS/IPS, and threat intelligence platforms.
  • Coordinate log onboarding and correlation rule development.
  • Lead automation initiatives and use case development for proactive monitoring.
  • Collaborate with vulnerability management teams to proactively identify and mitigate threats.
  • Ensure SOC operations are compliant with regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, RBI, IRDAI, PCI DSS).
  • Maintain documentation including SOPs, incident reports, SLA dashboards, and playbooks.
  • Assist in regulatory audits and internal reviews.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GCIA, GCIH, CEH, or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of experience managing or working with MSSPs in a SOC environment.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM (Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel, ArcSight), EDR, and SOAR platforms.
  • Strong understanding of threat detection frameworks (MITRE ATT\&CK, cyber kill chain).
  • Proven incident response and breach handling experience.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and vendor management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in building or maturing SOC operations with hybrid in-house + MSSP model.
  • Knowledge of cloud security monitoring (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Key Metrics / KPIs

  • Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Respond (MTTR)
  • Number of Incidents Resolved within SLA (internal + MSSP)
  • SOC Coverage (% of critical assets monitored)
  • MSSP Performance (SLA adherence, alert accuracy, false positive rate)
