Senior Director of Design

About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Director of Design to oversee key design charters and define the long-term design vision and strategy for our e-commerce platform. This is a senior leadership position that combines executive-level design influence with the responsibility of scaling a large, high-performing organization. You will report to the CPO and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the product, design culture, and user experiences at Meesho.

What you will do:

• Design Leadership & Strategy
• Define and evangelize the long-term design vision and strategy for Meesho's core product offerings, aligning it with company-wide business objectives
• Drive design-led innovation, establishing principles, and frameworks that guide product decisions across the entire organization
• Champion user-centric design methodologies and ensure that user insights are deeply embedded into all strategic design decisions
• Influence and partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Data Science leadership to define multi-quarter product roadmaps and strategic initiatives
• Organizational Management & Development
• Manage and mentor a large, multi-disciplinary team of 45+ designers, including managers
• Establish the organizational structure and career paths for the design team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning
• Drive hiring initiatives to attract and retain top-tier design talent
• Serve as a coach and mentor for design leaders on the team, preparing them for future growth
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Executive Influence
• Partner with senior leadership across Product, Engineering and Business to ensure cohesive and impactful user experiences
• Champion the design organization's vision and impact to executive leadership and key stakeholders, effectively articulating complex design decisions and their business outcomes
• Represent the design function in high-stakes strategic discussions and planning sessions
• Establish and drive a robust user insights-driven culture throughout the organization
• Operational Excellence & Scale
• Oversee the evolution of the design system and establish governance to ensure consistency and efficiency at a company-wide scale
• Define and implement scalable design processes and workflows that support rapid iteration while maintaining high standards of quality
• Establish and track key design metrics, linking user experience improvements directly to business results
• Manage organizational-level resource allocation, project timelines, and deliverable quality across multiple product teams

What you will need:

• Experience & Background
• 15+ years of design experience with at least 6 years in senior leadership roles, including managing managers
• Experience designing for consumer-facing digital products at a large scale, preferably in e-commerce or marketplace platforms
• Proven track record of building, scaling, and leading large design organizations in fast-paced, high-growth environments
• Extensive experience working in agile development environments and influencing cross-functional product teams at a strategic level
• Skills & Competencies
• Expert-level proficiency in design tools and a deep understanding of user experience research methodologies
• Exceptional visual design skills and a deep understanding of design systems development and governance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated ability to use data and metrics to drive high-level strategic decisions
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate a compelling design vision to diverse, senior-level audiences
