Role & responsibilities

  • Quantity estimation: Study Bills of Quantity (BOQ), take out quantities from drawings, and prepare measurement sheets.
  • Bill preparation and certification: Prepare and certify progress bills (RA bills) for clients and subcontractors based on project progress and rates.
  • Financial record keeping: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all billing and financial documentation.
  • Cost management: Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and help control costs to prevent budget overruns.
  • Coordination: Work with project managers, site teams, clients, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and ensure alignment on billing matters.
  • Extra item management: Identify and prepare bills for extra or non-tender items, often requiring rate analysis and joint measurement sheets.
  • Material reconciliation: Track and reconcile the consumption of materials (like steel and cement) to identify and recover costs for excess usage or wastage.
  • Compliance and reporting: Ensure all billing complies with financial regulations and project requirements, and assist in preparing financial reports.
  • Verification: Verify the arithmetic and technical accuracy of various bills, including civil, plumbing, electrical, and material invoices.

Essential skills

  • Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction drawings, and project specifications.
  • Financial acumen: Ability to manage budgets, perform cost analysis, and handle financial documentation accurately.
  • Attention to detail: Meticulous in checking bills and maintaining records to ensure accuracy.
  • Communication and coordination: Effective communication skills to work with multiple stakeholders across different departments.
  • Software proficiency: Familiarity with billing and ERP software like SAP is often required
