QA Automation Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer who can take ownership of automation across web, mobile, and API layers of a product-led platform. This role is critical to ensuring platform stability while scaling features related to social interactions, transactions, ticketing, and integrations.

You will work closely with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to embed automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and help prevent regressions in high-impact areas such as payments, refunds, and user workflows.

Key ResponsibilitiesAutomation Ownership

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for:
• Web applications
• iOS and Android mobile applications
• Backend APIs (user, content, payments, ticketing, vendor workflows)
• Identify critical business flows (signup, login, posting, payments, refunds, ticket booking) and ensure they are fully automated.
• Build and maintain automation using tools such as:
• Playwright / Cypress / Selenium (Web)
• Appium (Mobile)
• Perform API automation testing using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent libraries.
• Ensure automation suites are stable, maintainable, and scalable.

CI/CD & Release Quality

• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to run on every build and release.
• Analyze test failures and distinguish between automation issues and product defects.
• Support release readiness through regression, smoke, and sanity testing.
• Ensure high-risk areas (payments, refunds, ticketing) receive focused validation.

Manual & Exploratory Testing

• Perform manual and exploratory testing for new features, edge cases, and UI/UX issues.
• Validate bug fixes and ensure no regressions before production releases.
• Test across multiple browsers, devices, and OS versions.

Collaboration & Agile Practices

• Work closely with developers to understand features early and test proactively.
• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives).
• Identify quality risks early and contribute to sprint-level quality planning.
• Log, track, and verify defects using JIRA.

Documentation & Metrics

• Maintain test plans, automation documentation, and execution reports.
• Track and report QA metrics such as:
• Automation coverage
• Defect leakage
• Regression stability
• Release quality trends

Required Skills & QualificationsAutomation & Technical Skills

• 2–3 years of QA experience with strong hands-on automation testing.
• Proficiency in at least one automation framework:
• Playwright / Cypress / Selenium
• Appium (for mobile automation)
• Experience in API testing and automation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.).
• Working knowledge of Git/version control.

Testing Fundamentals

• Strong understanding of SDLC & STLC.
• Experience in functional, regression, smoke, compatibility, and exploratory testing.
• Ability to design reusable, maintainable test cases.

Tools & Process

• Hands-on experience with JIRA for defect tracking.
• Experience with test management tools such as Zephyr, Xray, TestRail, or similar.
• Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and ownership of quality.
• Clear communication and strong collaboration skills.

Nice to Have (Strong Advantage)

• Experience testing payment gateways, refunds, or financial workflows.
• Exposure to ticketing, booking, or transactional platforms.
• Basic understanding of database testing (SQL).
• Exposure to performance or security testing concepts.
• Experience working in a fast-scaling product or startup environment.
