Position Title: Area Sales Manager General Trade

Industry: FMCG

Location: Ludhiana OR Chandigarh

Reports To: Regional Sales Manager / Zonal Sales Manager

Team Handling: Territory Sales Executives / Sales Officers / Distributor Salesmen

Experience: 3 Yrs+ in FMCG sales, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales & Distribution Management

  2. Drive primary and secondary sales in assigned territory.

  3. Ensure regular forecasting and achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  4. Monitor distributor ROI and health of the distribution network.

  5. Team Management

  6. Lead, train, and monitor performance of the sales team (SO/TSI level).

  7. Conduct regular reviews and field visits with team members.
  8. Identify skill gaps and provide on-ground coaching.

  9. Market Development

  10. Expand distribution width and depth in General Trade.

  11. Execute trade promotions and schemes effectively.
  12. Monitor competition activities and suggest counter strategies.

  13. Channel Partner Management

  14. Appointing new distributors as needed.

  15. Maintain strong relationships with trade partners.
  16. Ensure adherence to company policies on claims, returns, credit notes, etc.

  17. Reporting & MIS

  18. Track daily sales performance and provide regular reports to senior management.

  19. Use data analytics to identify trends and opportunities.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of General Trade channel in FMCG sector
  • Experience in managing a team and distributor network
  • Analytical mindset and data-driven decision making
  • Ability to travel extensively within the territory
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Sales Automation Tools
