Key Responsibilities
•Leading and managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams that are responsible for Energy projects design and/or design review.
•Ensure project delivery with highest quality and on time, in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, specifications requirements and applicable codes & standards.
•Drive the execution of engineering projects from conception to delivery, overseeing the development process, setting clear goals, and ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
•Ensuring that engineering teams are adequately resourced, developed and equipped to meet business needs. Overseeing planning and control process in the engineering teams, conducting regular reviews to ensure that the teams are delivering work according to the customer and company requirements.
•Responsible for the development, approval, and implementation of the Engineering Project Execution Plan (PEP), follow through the project execution until completion and close out.
•Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, specifications, construction plan etc., to ensure compliance with project requirements, regulatory requirements, and prudent utility best practices.
•Manage engineering-related risks and issues proactively, implementing mitigation strategies as necessary to avoid or minimize project delays and cost overruns.
•Identify, track, and manage all changes in the Engineering Scope of Work, schedule, and execution methodology on the project, and ensure that all changes are promptly captured through the Change Management process. Communicate any contractual scopes changes to the Management and project team accordingly.
•To undertake other assignment from the Management from time to time.
•Workplace Health & Safety: Ensures good health is maintained through safe work practices.
•Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team, encouraging the adoption of best practices and emerging technologies.
•Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in engineering and construction, applying knowledge to enhance project delivery processes.
•Develop and maintain existing key client relationships, maintain client satisfaction.
•Supporting the submission of EOIs and Proposals in line with the Instrument of Delegation and provide input into large infrastructure pursuits as required.
•Ensure appropriate technical standards, and Quality Assurance Management System requirements are maintained on projects and proposals.
•Review and approval of all functional deliverables for internal and external issue.
•Development of staff, including keeping staff informed, providing suitable training, suitable opportunities, planning career paths, maintaining professional ethics and professional standards of behavior.
•Ensure documentation, reporting and communication is to the required quality.
•Manage or be part of a multidisciplinary project milestones.
•Mentor and challenge graduates. Develop career path to specifically leading to Professional Registration for staff.
•Maintain professional development and remain abreast of advances in chosen technical field.
•Offer clients technical innovative solutions.
•Participate as a technical resource in projects outside the region and support other regions at a management level as and when required.
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
•Bachelor's or Masters in Engineering Degree from accredited university
•Minimum 20 years of practical experience in the Energy Sector
•Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate (PEPC) and/or Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM)
•Technical leadership skills in Gas Power Generation projects design
•Project Management skills and experience in Energy projects
•Maintaining a consistent and manageable workload
•Develop and maintain key client relationships
•Development of staff
•Ensuring all projects are adequately resourced in terms of capabilities and specialists
•Experience in design using appropriate software, documentation, and delivery of major projects
•Excellent leadership and team management skills
•Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for client interactions
•Experience in management of large electrical design and supervision projects involving teams of project staff
•Experience in Government standards, codes and documentation
•Knowledge of web-based project cost control and financial systems
