Role Overview
The Debt Syndication Analyst will be responsible for supporting the origination, structuring, and execution of debt transactions for corporate and institutional clients. The role involves detailed financial analysis, preparation of credit proposals, coordination with lenders, and active participation in deal execution and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deal Execution & Structuring
- Assist in originating and executing debt syndication mandates, including project finance, working capital, term loans, structured debt, NCDs, ECBs, etc.
- Conduct detailed analysis of client requirements to identify appropriate funding structures.
- Liaise with banks, NBFCs, financial institutions, and investors to identify suitable lending partners.
- Support in negotiation of deal terms, financial covenants, and documentation.
2. Financial Analysis & Modelling
- Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting
- Familiarity with syndicated loan structures, credit agreements, and loan documentation
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Prepare analytical reports, debt sizing analysis, and scenario assessments.
3. Lender Relationship Management
- Maintain relationships and regular interactions with banks, NBFCs, and other financial institutions.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Coordinate with legal, compliance, and credit teams to ensure smooth closure of transactions.
- Review term sheets, sanction letters, and loan documentation for consistency with approved terms.
- Ensure all deal documentation adheres to internal and regulatory standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate disbursement of loan funds.
5. Client Engagement
- Support senior team members in client meetings, presentations, and pitch preparations.
- Respond promptly to client queries and follow-up on deal progress.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- MBA (Finance) / CFA / CA / PGDM (Finance) or equivalent qualification.
Experience:
- 1–4 years of experience in debt syndication, project finance, or corporate lending (for Analyst level).
- Prior experience with a bank, NBFC, investment bank, or financial advisory firm preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills (Excel proficiency required).
- Knowledge of credit appraisal techniques, debt instruments, and financial covenants.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks (RBI, SEBI, etc.) is an advantage.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
