Job Title: Area Sales Executive (ASE) Modern Trade

Job Purpose

To drive sales and visibility in modern trade outlets (MT), ensuring effective execution of sales strategies, building strong relationships with key accounts, and delivering volume, value, and market share growth in the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for modern trade accounts.
  • Drive product placements, visibility, and promotions in modern trade stores (e.g., Big Bazaar, Reliance Retail, DMart, etc.).
  • Identify and onboard new modern trade outlets and regional chains.
  • Negotiate and execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with Key Accounts.

Account Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with store managers, category buyers, and merchandisers.
  • Monitor sales trends, stock availability, and in-store execution.
  • Coordinate with supply chain/logistics to ensure timely delivery and stock replenishment.

Promotions & Merchandising

  • Execute trade marketing and in-store promotions effectively.
  • Ensure visibility of products through planogram compliance, end caps, and displays.
  • Train merchandisers and promoters for better shelf execution.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Track sales data and prepare regular performance reports.
  • Analyze store-level performance and suggest actionable insights.
  • Monitor competition activities and pricing.

Key Requirements

Education:

  • Graduate (Any stream); MBA preferred.

Experience:

  • 3+ years in FMCG/Consumer Goods sales, preferably in modern trade.
  • Experience handling large-format stores or regional chains is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Data-driven with proficiency in Excel and sales tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Achievement of sales targets.
  • Execution of visibility and planograms.
  • Increase in weighted and numeric distribution.
  • Relationship health with key accounts.
  • On-time reporting and data analysis.
