Role & responsibilities

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Purchase Engineer with strong expertise in sourcing, vendor management, and procurement within the cable manufacturing / electrical industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely procurement of raw materials, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining cost efficiency while meeting quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors and suppliers for raw materials such as copper, aluminium, PVC compounds, XLPE, insulation & sheathing materials, fillers, tapes, and packaging materials.
  • Handle procurement of consumables, tools, and capital equipment required for manufacturing operations.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to ensure cost-effective procurement without compromising on quality.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to support uninterrupted production schedules.
  • Develop and monitor vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and cost parameters.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, and contracts in line with company policies.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, and R&D teams for technical and material requirement specifications.
  • Track market trends, raw material price fluctuations, and alternate sourcing opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and environmental regulations in the procurement process.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in procurement or purchase engineering, preferably in the cable or electrical manufacturing sector.
