Role Overview

The Purchase Engineer is responsible for managing procurement activities and coordinating logistics operations to ensure the timely, cost-effective delivery of raw materials, equipment, and finished products. This role involves developing supplier relationships, optimizing supply chain processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards within the aluminium manufacturing sector.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Purchasing:

Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for raw materials, consumables, and equipment specific to aluminium production.

Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts to secure favorable conditions.

Manage purchase orders, ensure accurate documentation, and monitor order status.

Logistics & Supply Chain Management:

Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound logistics to ensure smooth supply chain operations.

Optimize transportation routes, freight costs, and delivery schedules.

Liaise with freight forwarders, customs, and warehouse teams to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Inventory Control:

Maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods.

Implement inventory tracking systems and conduct regular stock audits.

Supplier Relationship Management:

Develop strong relationships with suppliers and logistics providers.

Monitor supplier performance and address issues proactively.

Compliance & Documentation:

Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Maintain accurate records of procurement and logistics activities.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency and reduce costs.

Implement best practices in supply chain processes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or related field.

Proven experience in procurement and logistics within the aluminium or heavy manufacturing industry.

Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

Familiarity with ERP and supply chain management software
