Solar Design Engineer Rooftop & Ground-Mounted Solar Projects

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Solar Design Engineer with strong expertise in preparing detailed engineering designs for solar PV systems. This role involves site-data-based design, software-based energy estimations, and engineering documentation as per PSU-grade standards. Youll play a critical role in project success, working across both C&I and government clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare system designs including AC/DC cable sizing, string sizing, and solar PV layouts (rooftop & ground-mounted)
  • Develop and validate Key Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), GA drawings, and structure details using AutoCAD
  • Draft design memorandums for AC/DC protection, earthing, and lightning protection
  • Conduct shadow analysis, energy yield simulations, and performance estimation reports using PVSYST
  • Review and generate technical datasheets, type test reports, and manufacturing quality plans for PV modules, inverters, and cables
  • Prepare O&M manuals, PG test procedures, and FQPs as per NTPC/PSU standards
  • Coordinate with procurement, project, and site teams for accurate technical documentation and alignment
  • Create general arrangement drawings of cable trays, and conduct site visits if necessary for design validation

Key Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical and structural drawings
  • Working knowledge of PVSYST for solar performance estimation
  • Sound understanding of cable sizing, earthing systems, and lightning protection
  • Experience preparing and reviewing SLDs, GAs, test reports, and technical datasheets
  • Exposure to PSU/NTPC-style documentation for quality, test reports, and commissioning procedures
  • Strong documentation and coordination skills for cross-functional project execution
  • Self-driven with the ability to manage tasks independently

Qualifications:

  • B.Tech in any discipline (Electrical/Mechanical preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Solar Design
  • Additional certification in solar design tools or engineering is a plus
