Position Overview

The Senior UI/UX Designer at App Knit will play a key role in conceptualizing and designing engaging user experiences that drive impact.

You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — including Product Managers, Developers, and Clients — to bring ideas to life from concept to implementation.

This role demands creativity, empathy, technical understanding, and business awareness. You'll not only design interfaces but also influence user journeys, improve usability, and mentor junior designers.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Strategy

• Create clean, modern, and highly functional UI/UX designs for mobile and web products.
• Convert business goals and user requirements into intuitive design flows and visual concepts.
• Conduct user research, competitor benchmarking, and usability testing to inform design decisions.
• Develop and maintain design systems, UI component libraries, and style guides.
• Deliver wireframes, prototypes, and interactive mockups using Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
• Suggest and implement design improvements that enhance the overall user experience.

Collaboration & Execution

• Collaborate with Product Managers to align design decisions with business objectives.
• Work closely with Frontend Developers to ensure high-quality implementation of designs.
• Take client meetings and review calls to discuss design concepts and incorporate feedback.
• Prepare design documentation, rationales, and user journeys for stakeholder reviews.
• Support the Project Manager (PM) in planning, sprint design reviews, and delivery alignment.

Leadership & Mentorship

• Guide and mentor junior UI/UX designers, helping them refine their design thinking and technical skills.
• Conduct design reviews, ensuring consistency in quality and adherence to design systems.
• Assist in hiring processes — shortlisting portfolios, evaluating assignments, and conducting interviews.

Research & Continuous Improvement

• Run user interviews, surveys, and usability studies to identify pain points and opportunities.
• Keep up to date with emerging design trends, accessibility guidelines (WCAG), and UX research methods.
• Collaborate with leadership to define UX KPIs and measure design impact.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2–4 years of proven experience as a UI/UX Designer or Product Designer.
• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch for interface design and prototyping.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and design thinking methodologies.
• Solid grasp of visual hierarchy, typography, color theory, and responsive design.
• Experience designing for both mobile (iOS/Android) and web platforms.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum setup.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate design rationale effectively.
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS, design systems, and component-based workflows (a plus).
• Exposure to motion design, micro-interactions, or animation tools like After Effects or Lottie (good to have).
