School Accountant

Location: Sofia Public School, Chokkanahalli, Bengaluru

Role Overview:

The School Accountant will manage all financial transactions, records, and reporting for Sofia Public School. This role ensures accurate and transparent accounting, timely fee collection, compliance with educational regulations, and effective support to school management regarding budgets and financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of all school financial transactions (receipts, payments, fees, purchases, payroll)
  • Prepare and process invoices, fee receipts, and bills
  • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and ledgers monthly
  • Oversee fee collection, follow up on outstanding payments, and generate timely reports
  • Prepare annual and monthly budget statements for management review
  • Support statutory audits, manage tax filings, and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate with external auditors, vendors, and suppliers
  • Generate MIS reports on expenses, revenues, and financial forecasts
  • Support the school administration in purchase decisions, inventory, and asset management
  • Help parents with queries related to fees, receipts, and payment processes

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, Tally or similar accounting software
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high level of organization
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in managing school accounts is an asset

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years relevant accounting experience (school or educational sector preferred)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Tally, Excel, etc.)
