To ensure that all electrical materials, equipment, and components procured for EPC projects meet the required quality standards, technical specifications, and project requirements as per applicable client specifications. The QC Engineer supports procurement activities by inspecting, verifying, and approving materials and suppliers to maintain quality compliance.

1. Material Quality Assurance

  • Revie and verify material specifications, datasheets, and quality requirements before purchase orders are issued.
  • Ensure all materials comply with project specifications, standards (IEC, IEEE, ISO, etc.), and client requirements.
  • Evaluate supplier technical bids for compliance with quality and technical criteria.

2. Vendor Evaluation & Qualification

  • Conduct pre-qualification audits and assessments of potential electrical suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Verify vendor quality systems and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, type test certificates, factory test reports).
  • Maintain and update the Approved Vendor List (AVL) based on performance and compliance history.

3. Inspection & Testing

  • Plan and conduct stage inspections and final inspections at vendor premises (Factory Acceptance Tests - FAT).
  • Witness testing of electrical equipment such as switchgears, transformers, cables, MCCs, panels, lighting systems, etc.
  • Ensure calibration certificates for test instruments are valid and traceable.
  • Issue inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective actions when deviations are found.

4. Documentation & Compliance

  • Review and approve Material Test Certificates (MTCs), Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and Quality Control Plans (QCPs).
  • Ensure all procurement documentation is complete and traceable for client handover and QA/QC records.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to resolve technical and quality-related issues.

5. Coordination & Reporting

  • Interface with clients, third-party inspectors (TPIs), and project quality teams regarding inspection activities.
  • Monitor vendor performance and report quality trends to management.
  • Support procurement during bid evaluation, material approval, and delivery inspection processes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in EPC or electrical construction projects, preferably in the procurement quality control field.

  • Certifications (Preferred):

  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor

  • QA/QC certification from a recognized body
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, ASTM, NEC, etc.)

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical materials and systems used in industrial and infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, datasheets, and specifications.
  • Experience with inspection procedures, FATs, and quality documentation.
  • Good communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office and quality management software (if applicable).
