Unix Scripting Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and maintain Unix shell scripts (ksh/bash) to automate routine system tasks and workflows.
  • Utilize Unix command-line utilities to support operational and development teams.
  • Monitor and manage Unix processes, troubleshoot process-related issues.
  • Work with storage systems: manage and understand mount points, disk usage, and storage allocation.
  • Handle file system structures, perform file system checks, manage logs, and monitor storage health.
  • Manage file and directory permissions, including ownership, symbolic links, ACLs, and sticky bits.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and support teams to ensure system reliability and performance.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in Unix/Linux administration or scripting.
  • Proficiency in bash and/or ksh scripting.
  • Solid understanding of Unix/Linux command-line tools and utilities (e.g., awk, sed, grep, find, xargs, cron, top, ps, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of Unix process lifecycle and job scheduling.
  • Understanding of storage basics, including mounting file systems, and working with LVM, NFS, or SAN storage.
  • Hands-on experience with file systems, permissions, and user/group management.
  • Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
