Role Objective
To monitor and control the quality of UAV components and assemblies during production by performing in-process inspections, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards, and identifying defects early. The role ensures structural integrity, precision, and reliability of UAV systems, minimizing rework and supporting on-time delivery of airworthy platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections at defined stages of UAV manufacturing (machining, composite lay-up, electrical harness assembly, structural integration, avionics installation, etc.).
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, surface finish, and fit up against engineering drawings and Standard work instructions.
- Inspect bonding, fastening, riveting, soldering, and adhesive applications in composites and metallic structures.
- Record inspection results in inspection checklists and quality control documentation.
- Maintain proper traceability of materials, parts, and processes as per aerospace/defense standards.
- Identify and segregate non-conforming products, raise NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and coordinate with production for corrective actions.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Check calibration status of gauges and tools before use.
- Verify proper ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) handling for electronic components.
- Monitor critical processes such as composite curing, torque application, and electrical continuity.
- Report deviations immediately to supervisors and recommend process adjustments when necessary
- Work closely with production engineers, design, and quality teams to resolve issues.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support internal and external audits as required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in Visual, dimensional and Functional inspection methods
- Ability to inspect Mechanical, Electronic, and Composite of UAV parts.
- Familiarity with acceptance criteria for precision machined components of UAV.
- Skilled with tools such as Micrometer, calliper, height gauge, multimeters, Optical Comparator and Pin Gauges
- Able to read and Interpret Engineering drawings, BOM and Assembly drawings
- Understanding of Quality standards like ISO9001 & AS 9100.
- Understanding of IPC-A-610 (For Electronics)
- Familiar with SAP or ERP software
- Ability to identify root cause analysis for quality issues and assist in resolving them.
- Works well with cross-functional team (e.g., Engineering, Production, Stores etc…)
- Efficient in completing inspections under time constraints to avoid production delays
Education & Experience
- Education: Diploma in Mechanical / Aeronautical / Aerospace / Electrical / Electronic Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification).
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in quality inspection within aerospace, UAV, automotive, or precision manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to aerospace quality standards (AS9100 / ISO 9001), composite structures, avionics, and mechanical assemblies preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time on-site position based in Bangalore, India
- May require extended hours or weekend work during critical phases
- Occasional travel for vendor or site visits
