We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to join our Mechanical team in the role of JE/AE at our Kharagpur Plant- RVPL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Routine Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for mill components such as rolls, bearings, gearboxes, mill stands, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, lubrication systems, pumps, and other supporting equipment.
  • Process Optimization: Work on optimizing mill performance, rolling parameters, and equipment reliability to maximize production efficiency and product quality.
  • Technical Support: Provide on-site support during roll changes, size changes, and major maintenance shutdowns, ensuring correct alignment and installation of equipment; assist in equipment upgrades or modifications as needed.
  • Safety & Documentation: Follow plant safety protocols, participate actively in safety programs, and maintain proper documentation for maintenance, breakdowns, and preventive actions (such as SMPs, SOPs, and EOPs); keep logbooks up to date with all relevant activities and improvements.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Investigate equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce downtime and recurrence of issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2–6 years of relevant hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering in cold rolling mills or related heavy steel industry environments.
  • Solid knowledge of rolling mill mechanical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and bearing assemblies.
  • Experience with preventive and breakdown maintenance, and knowledge of tools like SAP or other maintenance software is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with ISO, OHSAS, safety, and quality documentation standards.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and during planned/unplanned shutdowns as required.
