Job Title: Accounts Head
Position Summary:
The Accounts Head is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting activities of the organization, including financial reporting, general ledger management, budgeting, tax compliance, and audit preparation. This role ensures that the company's financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and legal requirements.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.
General Ledger Management:
Manage and oversee daily accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
Review and approve all ledger entries and adjustments.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Collaborate with the finance team to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
Monitor and report on budget variances, providing analysis and recommendations.
Assist in long-term financial planning and strategy.
Tax Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
Manage tax planning strategies to optimize tax liabilities.
Audit Preparation:
Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits.
Ensure all financial records and documentation are readily available and accurate.
Address audit findings and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely payments.
Monitor and manage cash flow, including receivables collection.
Internal Controls and Process Improvement:
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices in accounting operations.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support for professional development.
Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
Systems Management:
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.
Ensure data integrity and security within accounting systems.
Work with IT to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as the point of contact for financial and accounting inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum 3 years in accounting in a supervisory role.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and audit preparation.
High proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
