Job description: ECAS Mechanical Design Engineer – HMI, BCM & DC-DC Converter Modules
Location: Yelahanka, Bangalore
 

About the gig

The ECAS Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of mechanical housing and enclosures for HMI (Human Machine Interface), Body Control Module (BCM), and DC-DC Converter systems in SimpleEnergy's EV lineup. The position demands expertise in design for manufacturability, thermal management, plastic and aluminum enclosure design, and assembly optimization. 

 

 What you'll do 

  • Create 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings in UG/NX for HMI, BCM, and DC DC enclosures.
  • Apply DFM, DFS, DFMA, and DFMEA principles throughout design stages.
  • Design sealed enclosures (IP65–IP67) for electronics considering heat dissipation, EMC shielding, and connector interface integrity.
  • Collaborate with electrical, electronics, and validation teams for packaging feasibility and mounting strategies.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure fitment compliance within vehicle architecture.
  • Work closely with suppliers and toolmakers for plastic/aluminum part manufacturing feasibility.
  • Support prototype and production builds with engineering change management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Generate and maintain DFMEA, BoM, and CAD data management in PLM.

What you bring

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Automotive/Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 3–6 years' experience in ECU / electronic enclosure design (HMI, BCM, or DC-DC converter preferred).
  • Hands-on experience in UG/NX, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of plastic injection molding, die-casting, and sheet metal manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in DFMEA, DFS, DFA, thermal design, and vibration-resistant packaging.
  • Knowledge of automotive standards (IP rating, vibration, EMI/EMC).
  • Excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
