eBay is looking for an experienced Product Manager - Tax Platform to help design, shape, and drive product solutions for eBay's Payments Tax Platform. This person will drive Tax Platform product initiatives for eBay and spearhead initiatives that streamline, automate, and integrate tax operations driving process improvements and measurable impact.

Developing a platform to support multiple geographies carries with it many challenges. You will have previously developed global product tax strategies that enable and drive innovation and go-to-market efficiency, and understand the nuances of building out tax product functionality while maintaining operational flexibility and underlying tax compliance. A focus and passion for solving complex problems, a strong understanding of tax regulations, and a proven track record of delivering successful products. They will work closely with in-country and regional tax business leaders, legal, compliance, finance ,product and domain leads to identify and build core capabilities, improve utility of features common to multiple partners, and efficiently solve for local functionalities critical to market success. Additionally, they have a demonstrated ability to establish relationships and influence across the organization at all levels, as well as possess superior communication and presentation abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead: Define tax product vision and roadmaps across technology components. Clearly set the product prioritization with a balance of near-term deliverables and longer-term investment in technology platforms.
  • Implement: As the Product Owner, co-lead the Agile scrum team with the engineering counterpart to complete the tax product roadmap with clear achievements.
  • Learn: Synthesize market changes and technology improvements into practical improvements for the tax platform.
  • Collaborate: Partner closely with internal and external customers to provide a global viewpoint and extend applications across use cases and geographies.
  • Define a compelling multi-year roadmap for tax technology product development, leveraging a deep understanding of tax objectives, operational pain points, and business needs
  • Communicate product updates and progress to stakeholders, including executives, team members, and customers
  • Act as a subject matter expert on tax regulations and provide guidance and support to other teams within the company.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in product management or software development, preferably for eCommerce/payments products with a large user base. Tax expertise is a must.
  • Experience working with International markets and in developing products for multiple geographies.
  • Strong grounding in tax concepts (e.g. direct & indirect taxes, regional tax obligations), audits and regulatory frameworks (e.g. SOX)
  • Strong technical background to understand and contribute to the design of engineering and data architecture and infrastructure components.
  • Passion, and a consistent track record, for delivering experiences that delight users.
  • Solid financial and analytical abilities, experience in translating complex business issues into clear goals and product requirements.
  • Strong drive and curiosity to come up with new ideas, identify opportunities and create vision to drive the business forward.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to shift from developing and communicating a strategy to executing in a cross-functional, matrixed organization.
  • Create learning plans to identify and test the biggest hypotheses to drive your KPIs and success metrics.
  • Identify new opportunities based on customer and competitive research, industry trends, and best practices
