Water Treatment Plant (WTP) – Roles & Responsibilities1. Plant Operator / Technician

  • Operate pumps, valves, filters, and dosing systems.
  • Monitor water quality parameters (pH, turbidity, chlorine residual, etc.).
  • Maintain records of inflow, outflow, and chemical consumption.

  • Perform routine cleaning (backwashing, filter media inspection).

  • Maintenance Team

  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, and electrical systems.

  • Calibration and repair of flow meters, sensors, and dosing pumps.

  • Ensure standby equipment is ready.

  • Chemist / Laboratory Staff

  • Test raw water and treated water samples.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (IS 10500, WHO, local norms).

  • Optimize chemical dosing (alum, lime, chlorine, etc.).

  • Plant Manager / Supervisor

  • Ensure smooth plant operations and compliance with statutory norms.

  • Maintain inventory of spares and chemicals.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Liaison with regulatory bodies and water boards.

Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) – Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Plant Operator / Technician

  2. Operate aeration tanks, clarifiers, pumps, and blowers.

  3. Maintain sludge handling systems (drying beds, digesters, centrifuges).
  4. Monitor flow rates and MLSS (Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids).

  5. Ensure treated effluent meets discharge standards (BOD, COD, TSS, pH).

  6. Maintenance Team

  7. Regular maintenance of pumps, aerators, blowers, and electrical systems.

  8. Preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.

  9. Ensure SCADA/automation systems are functioning.

  10. Lab Technician / Chemist

  11. Collect and analyze influent, effluent, and sludge samples.

  12. Track key parameters: BOD, COD, Ammonia, Nitrate, TSS, Oil & Grease.

  13. Generate compliance certificates for local pollution control boards.

  14. Plant Manager / Supervisor

  15. Ensure compliance with CPCB/SPCB norms (Central/State Pollution Control Board).

  16. Maintain daily logbooks, operational reports, and statutory records.
  17. Oversee sludge disposal and reuse (compost, biogas, manure).
  18. Coordinate with contractors, government, and clients.
