Company Overview

We are a UK-based manufacturing company with a design office in India. We specialize in fabricating engineered products and components, primarily sourcing raw materials like steel from the UK. We are expanding our team to strengthen procurement operations and explore India-based opportunities for supply chain diversification and product research.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and commercially savvy Procurement & Market Research Manager to handle all purchasing activities and strategic sourcing—across both UK and Indian markets. This role will bridge the communication gap between our UK manufacturing team and Indian design/purchasing office while also identifying new product opportunities from the Indian market for UK distribution.

Key Responsibilities Procurement & Purchasing

- Manage procurement of materials, tools, and components for UK operations from both local and international suppliers.
- Handle all Indian-side procurement, including sourcing items like fasteners, nuts, bolts, fittings, and general consumables.
- Liaise with UK manufacturing and design teams to ensure timely order fulfilment and specification alignment.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and payment terms with suppliers across both geographies.
- Maintain and update procurement records, supplier directories, and cost-tracking systems.

Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers (India and UK).
- Build long-term supplier relationships and manage performance.
- Conduct regular quality and compliance checks with the design and manufacturing standards in mind.

Market Research & Product Scouting

- Investigate product categories in India that can be sourced cost-effectively and sold in the UK.
- Provide research reports with costings, availability, certifications, and shipping/logistics info.
- Attend trade shows or virtual exhibitions to explore new suppliers and market opportunities.
- Track trends in Indian manufacturing, export regulations, and commodity pricing.

Coordination & Reporting

- Act as a bridge between UK and Indian teams for procurement-related communications.
- Provide regular procurement status updates, including cost-saving initiatives and sourcing opportunities.
- Maintain visibility on shipment progress, customs documentation, and delivery timelines.

Key Requirements

- 3–5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or sourcing (India & International preferred).
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in using procurement and project management tools (Excel, ERP systems, etc.).
- Familiarity with Indian and UK supply chain ecosystems.
- Excellent communication in English (verbal & written).
- Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset.
- Engineering or industrial background (preferred but not essential).

Nice to Have

- Experience working with UK-based teams or exports/imports.
- Network of suppliers in the Indian B2B/manufacturing sector.
- Knowledge of logistics, customs, and export documentation.
