Job Title: Senior Design Engineer

Location: Chennai (This position is open only to candidates who are based in Chennai / Tamil Nadu. Applications from outside Tamil Nadu will not be considered. Preferences shall be given to Chennai based candidates)

Experience: 4+ years

Key Responsibilities


• Lead the conceptual and detailed design of aerospace/defense composite and hybrid

structures such as radomes, fighter aircraft pods, missile launch canisters, UAV

fuselage/wing structures, and pylons.


• Develop 3D CAD models, complex assemblies, and fully dimensioned 2D drawings in

compliance with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) and aerospace standards.


• Perform structural, thermal, RF-transparent design integration, vibration, and fatigue

analysis using tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, HyperWorks).


• Ensure aerodynamic shape optimization in collaboration with aerodynamicists for radomes,

pods, and UAV structures.


• Design and validate tooling, molds, jigs, and fixtures for composite layup, autoclave curing,

and precision assembly.


• Integrate stealth, radar cross-section (RCS) reduction, and lightweighting requirements

in product design.


• Collaborate with materials and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for prepreg

layup, vacuum bagging, autoclave processing, RTM, filament winding, and additive

manufacturing.


• Prepare and manage engineering documentation, BOMs, qualification test reports, and

certification dossiers as per MIL-STD, AS9100, and CEMILAC/DRDO requirements.


• Conduct design reviews (PDR, CDR) with internal stakeholders, customers, and defense

agencies.


• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and foster innovation in lightweight aerospace

composite designs.


• Support ground testing and flight trials, analyzing test data for correlation and design

validation.

Qualifications & Experience


• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.


• 4–10 years of experience in mechanical design & development within aerospace/defense or

advanced composites sector.


• Strong proficiency in CAD platforms (CATIA V5/V6/ 3D Experience).


• Hands-on experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, HyperWorks).


• Proven expertise in composite design and analysis (ply drop-offs, stacking sequence

optimization, delamination prevention).


• Exposure to fighter aircraft systems, radome transparency design, missile canisters,

UAV structures, and defense qualification processes.


• Familiarity with MIL-STD, DO-160, AS9100, and CEMILAC/DRDO certification

requirements.


• Strong project execution skills from concept → prototype → qualification → production.

Preferred Skills


• Experience with thermal management, vibro-acoustic analysis, and RF performance

integration in radome/antenna systems.


• Knowledge of RCS reduction techniques, composite sandwich construction, and ballistic

protection composites.


• Familiarity with defense project lifecycle (R&D → prototyping → trials → production).


• Experience in PLM systems (ENOVIA, Teamcenter, Windchill).
