Role Overview: We're seeking an experienced and driven Product Design Engineering Manager to lead and mentor our mechanical design team. This hands-on role involves guiding the design of core products and specialized equipment, managing project priorities, and ensuring high-quality, timely execution. What you'll be doing:
  • Lead a team of product design and CAE engineers, fostering their growth and collaboration to solve dynamic problems.
  • Guide CAE engineers on effective model setup, boundary conditions, and creative problem-solving for difficult CFD/FEA challenges.
  • Prioritize and deliver mechanical engineering projects, managing timelines and resources effectively.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex design challenges, ensuring products meet performance, manufacturability, and cost targets.
  • Act as the liaison between the India team and HQ to align on requirements and resolve integration issues.
  • Drive supplier relationships, ensuring optimal DFM and managing the procurement process.
What you have:
  • 12+ years in mechanical or product design, with 2-3 years in a management or lead role. Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team, communicating complex technical concepts to all stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise in DFM, advanced tolerance stack analysis, and manufacturing processes for metals and plastics. Expert proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), engineering drawings, GD&T, and process capability.
  • A strong ability to understand and navigate multi-faceted design tradeoffs, with proven system-level design experience. Familiarity with CFD and FEA (preferably Ansys and FloEFD), with the ability to guide analysis rather than perform it.
  • Exceptional engineering fundamentals and a track record of solving highly complex technical challenges. A proactive, self-driven individual who can motivate colleagues and maintain focus on strategic objectives with minimal oversight.
Nice to have:
  • Experience designing optomechanical test fixtures.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (JMP, Minitab, etc.).
  • Experience managing relationships with a contract manufacturer (CM).
  • Experience with projects in high-volume industries (e.g., consumer electronics, robotics, medical devices).
