A. Job Objective

  • Ensuring adherence to safety and compliance to Environmental & Regulatory policies and process related to Logistics and distribution including International Trade Compliance.
  • Responsible for International multimodal Freight Forwarding and Customs Clearance, Freight benchmarking, Negotiations and Contracting.
  • Key KPIs include OTDIF, DOH, Per'000 Capsules Transportation Cost, Transit Lead Time reduction, Budgeted Despatch Targets, Avoidance of Premium Freight, detention & demurrage cost.
  • Liaise & negotiate with service partners (3/4PL, consultants, CHAs, transporters, Technology partners etc.).
  • Supervise, coach and train logistics & warehouse workforce.
  • Maintain metrics and analyse data to assess performance and implement /propose improvements.
  • Ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Practices and propose changes.
  • Working on Cost reduction and process improvement projects.

B. Primary responsibilities

  • Responsible to implement process and controls to efficiently manage the physical material flows (reception, put away, kitting, shipping) and always to keep physical and system flows aligned.
  • Developing, contracting and onboarding reputed service partners like Carriers, 3PL WH partners, CHAs, Freight Forwarders by following stipulated process and protocols.
  • Monitoring and analysing factors impacting ocean freight, fuel, storage, detention, demurrage etc. and actions to avoid / minimise impact.
  • Keeping track of Budget vs Actuals sales and releasing periodic updates to management.
  • Liase with Site Logistics, CSR & Sales Team for despatch schedule and sales clearances.
  • Responsible for ensuring container booking, trailer arrangements and customs clearance for exports / imports. Supporting site teams in case of domestic shipments vehicle placement issues.
  • Handling customs queries on matters related to EXIM, DGFT, Customs and associated Govt. agencies.
  • Addressing Logistics issues and concerns discussed in periodic reviews with Site Logistic teams to meet monthly despatch targets. Identifying the Root Causes and working with the internal stakeholders on corrective/preventive actions. Follow up on these actions and participate in their realization.
  • Keeping track of delivery times, transport costs and efficiency.
  • Support in handling customer complaints with RC and CAPA on account of Logistics Operations including damage, pilferage, accidents etc. along with lodgement to settlement of claims, reverse logistics if any.
  • Adherence to policies and its implementation related to quarantine of non-conforming material and follow up non-conformity resolution.
  • Maintain metrics (OTDIF, DOH, SLOB, Delivery Performance) and analyze data to assess functional performance and implement improvement projects related to imports and exports.
  • Ensuring timely payments to service providers as per the terms of payment.
  • Working on digital transformation projects like TMS, WMS, Lighthouse, OTDIF enabler, Dashboards, RPA (export documentation) etc and ensuring its optimum utilisation.
  • Support in Annual Budgeting exercise for Logistics and warehousing.
  • Conducting Vendor Performance Evaluation and review the score with service partners on quarterly basis.
  • Supporting various projects on factory expansion & new factory commissioning through active cross functional collaboration.
  • Ensuring standard operating procedures are followed and propose for Review / Redesign & Simplify standard operating procedures with change in business dynamics and need.
  • Support in Network Optimisation Studies and building Logistics & Warehousing models resulting into cost saving, reduction of lead time, improvement in service.
  • Working on carbon emission reduction initiatives of the organisation as part of Sustainability.
  • SAP Knowledge preferred

People Development:

  • Drive a performance driven culture in the team by timely monitoring, review of performance parameters and feedback to the team members
  • Contribute towards development of talent for the department by providing subordinates with adequate exposure and growth opportunities to enable readiness for higher roles
  • Provide a long-term vision to the team, set yearly objectives and targets, support and coach in achieving these targets and objectives, perform performance appraisals, reward and recognize merits, set and follow up team members development plans and induction program for newcomers.
  • Actively participate in HR initiatives to drive overall employee engagement and motivation

Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR.
