Purpose of the role

To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure.  Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response.

To be successful in this role, you should have below skills:

  • At least few years of experience as IBM Mainframe Network specialist (z Series) with z/os communication server
  • Configure, debug and maintain TCPIP and VTAM subsystems configurations,
  • Knowledge of all products using SNA & IP (DB2, CICS, TSO/ISPF, Netview, Connect: Direct, JES2),
  • Configure and implement AT-TLS rules,
  • Configure and implement IPSEC policies,
  • Configure and implement DDVIPA setup
  • Secure Encrypted data transfers (NDM, SFTP and FTP/TLS),
  • Tcpip trace analysis – IP, Socket, OSA adapter, SNA, EE,
  • Very good understanding of network related technologies (routing, protocols, IPv4, IPv6, etc)
  • Installation, upgrade and maintenance of VTAM, TCPIP, OSA and related products on the mainframe.
  • Strong Networking knowledge.
  • To support 247 On call support.
  • Skills in Printers configuration, FTP, SMTP, SNMP configurations.
  • Network management software (includes NetView and NPM)
  • File transfer software (includes TCP/IP FTP, Netview FTP and Connect: Direct)
  • Session Management software (CA-TPX)
  • Printing software ESF.

Some other highly valued skills may include below:

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Omegamon and Elastic.
  • Performance evaluation using SMF statistic data for mainframe network.
