Key Responsibilities:1. Diagnostic Support

  • Assist in gross examination and processing of surgical, cytology, and biopsy specimens.

  • Prepare and stain slides for histopathology and cytopathology examination.

  • Participate in microscopic evaluation under supervision of the Pathologist.

  • Support sample collection, labeling, and verification procedures to ensure accuracy.

  • Help in performing routine and special stains, immunohistochemistry, or molecular tests as required.

2. Laboratory Operations

  • Supervise and coordinate daily workflow in the pathology laboratory.

  • Ensure timely dispatch of reports and manage communication with clinicians regarding urgent or critical values.

  • Maintain records of patient samples, test results, and reports according to hospital policy.

  • Participate in internal and external quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs.

  • Monitor inventory of reagents, stains, and consumables; assist in stock management and procurement.

3. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all procedures comply with NABL / NABH / ISO standards (as applicable).

  • Adhere strictly to infection control, biosafety, and waste disposal protocols.

  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and log maintenance activities.

  • Participate in audits and contribute to continuous improvement in lab processes.

4. Academic & Research (if applicable)

  • Assist in academic activities, case discussions, and clinicopathological meetings.

  • Support data collection and documentation for research or publications under guidance.

5. Administrative & Teamwork

  • Coordinate with technicians, phlebotomists, and other staff to ensure efficient lab operations.

  • Assist in training and mentoring junior staff or interns.

  • Report any equipment malfunction or incident promptly to the Pathologist or Lab Manager.
