The Team Lead Backend Engineering will be a key member of Airwoot's technical team reporting to the Head of Engineering, responsible for the development and scaling of our platform. As Team Lead, the spectrum of responsibilities will also include managing the Backend Engineering Team in their day to day tasks and any technical challenges they may face. The ideal candidate should be exposed to the startup culture and be willing to work in a high pressure environment with ambiguous requirements.

Summary and Requirements

Apart from a proven track record in engineering excellence, the candidate must have a deep exposure to agile development practices and be capable of guiding his team in complying with Airwoot's best practices. The candidate should have a minimum of 4 yrs of experience with:

  • Deep expertise in at least one of our main programming languages: Python, C
  • Big Data Buzzword Compliance: MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, Solr/Lucene
  • Strong experience with NoSQL and SQL databases, ideally: Mongo, Redis, PostgreSQL
  • The desire to quickly learn new technologies and work on existing code written in any programming language.
  • Ideally already developed highly scalable and highly available web services.

  • Expertise in multithreaded programming and tasks queue management
  • Hands on with Cloud infrastructure (S3, EC2, Route53)
