Gegadyne Energy is Mumbai-based start-up developing proprietary Non-Lithium based quick charging battery technology with a primary focus to leapfrog battery technologies to the next stage thereby change the unit economics of everything else associated with it. We are developing a new Advanced Cell Chemistry which is exempt of Lithium, cobalt and other rare elements and focusing on quality and indigenous cell development.

Job Summary

We are seeking a results-driven and experienced Procurement Lead with strong expertise in international sourcing, import regulations, logistics, and supplier management. You will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for raw materials, components, and services critical to battery manufacturing and innovation. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in global supply chain operations, customs compliance (CSA), incoterms, and vendor negotiations across borders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement :

  • Develop and manage the companys overall procurement strategy, with a focus on cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Drive global sourcing initiatives to identify reliable vendors for battery components, specialty chemicals, electronic parts, and mechanical systems.
  • Negotiate long-term agreements and contracts with domestic and international suppliers.

International Procurement :

  • Manage import procurement operations including order placement, documentation, shipment tracking, and customs clearance.
  • Ensure full compliance with customs regulations, CSA (Customs Self-Assessment), DGFT guidelines, HSN codes, and international trade laws.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, customs agents, and government bodies for smooth cross-border logistics.

Logistics & Supply Chain :

  • Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure on-time delivery, warehouse planning, and inventory control.
  • Optimize shipping methods (air/sea/land) based on cost, urgency, and supplier location.
  • Monitor supplier lead times, track in-transit shipments, and proactively resolve delivery issues.

Cost Optimization & Supplier Management :

  • Conduct should-cost analysis and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) assessments.
  • Continuously evaluate and benchmark suppliers across quality, pricing, risk, and reliability.
  • Lead supplier performance reviews and develop alternate vendor strategies for critical materials.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Engineering, Finance, and Manufacturing teams to align procurement decisions with technical and business objectives.
  • Forecast material requirements in line with new product development and scale-up needs.

Process, Systems & Reporting :

  • Utilize and improve ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa) to manage purchase orders, invoices, and procurement analytics.
  • Prepare regular reports on procurement KPIs including spend analysis, delivery performance, and cost savings.

Qualifications

  • B.E /B.Tech -Mechanical / electronic communication.
  • 8-12 years of experience in strategic procurement, with strong exposure to international sourcing and logistics.
  • In-depth knowledge of import/export procedures, customs documentation, incoterms, and freight forwarding.
  • Experience working with battery materials, chemicals, electrical, electronic components, or similar technical products is highly preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, ERP systems, and supply chain tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
