Provides hands-on technical expertise in VMware platform upgrades, maintenance, and support. Works closely with the Technical Support Manager and the software manufacturer/developer to troubleshoot, resolve, and prevent issues in the cloud platform.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Troubleshooting

Handle all technical queries and support requests from the Government.

Diagnose and resolve VMware-related issues in collaboration with the manufacturer/developer.

Implement solutions for identified vulnerabilities, threats, and end-of-support situations.

Upgrade & Patch Management

Perform software upgrades, patch installations, and configuration changes as approved.

Ensure minimal service disruption and adherence to change management protocols.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain detailed incident logs, RCA reports, and change records.

Document configuration changes, upgrade procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Preventive Maintenance

Monitor system performance and proactively identify optimisation opportunities.

Apply VMware best practices for system stability and efficiency.

Qualifications & Certifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline from a recognised university.

Minimum 3 years of post-qualification IT experience in implementation or service support projects related to VMware or the specified Maintenance Items.

Preferred Certifications (must have at least two if also fulfilling certification requirement for the team):

VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)

VMware Certified Professional – Network Virtualization (VCP-NV)

VMware Certified Professional – Cloud Management & Automation (VCP-CMA)

Skills

Solid understanding of VMware ESXi, vCenter, NSX, and vRealize platforms.

Experience in server hardware, storage, and networking integration.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure situations.
