Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Algorithm Engineer with strong expertise in algorithm development, mathematical optimization, and software engineering. The role emphasizes developing and supporting optimization algorithms in C# and Python, working closely with clients and internal teams to deliver efficient, scalable solutions.

This is primarily a remote position, but the candidate will collaborate extensively with distributed engineering teams and occasionally support client deployments of optimization-based software systems.

The ideal candidate has a solid academic foundation (MSc/PhD) in optimization, applied mathematics, operations research, or computer science, coupled with hands-on experience in implementing and fine-tuning optimization algorithms.

Key Responsibilities

Algorithm Development & Optimization

  • Design, implement, and optimize algorithms in C# and Python for solving complex real-world problems.
  • Apply techniques from operations research, mathematical programming, and heuristic/metaheuristic optimization to improve solution quality and performance.
  • Develop proof-of-concept prototypes, conduct performance benchmarking, and ensure scalability of optimization models.
  • Collaborate with researchers and software engineers to integrate algorithms into production systems.

Deployment & Support

  • Provide technical support for optimization-based applications, ensuring smooth deployment and operation.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to algorithmic performance, configuration, and integration.
  • Deliver documentation, test cases, and reproducible examples to aid debugging and knowledge transfer.
  • Continuously enhance algorithms based on real-world usage and client feedback.

Client & Team Coordination

  • Act as a technical liaison between customers, product managers, and internal research/engineering teams.
  • Provide guidance and training to end users on using optimization tools effectively.
  • Communicate technical findings and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in optimization algorithm development and software engineering.
  • Strong programming skills in C# and Python, with a focus on performance and scalability.
  • Deep understanding of optimization techniques: linear/integer programming, constraint programming, metaheuristics, or machine learning-based optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and tuning optimization models in real-world applications.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in distributed teams.
