Role Overview

The Associate Director, CMDB & Data Architect will be responsible for the strategic architecture, design, implementation, governance, and optimization of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and foundation data practices within the ServiceNow platform. This role will support our ServiceNow Value Team function and collaborate closely with various teams across the IT organization to ensure the effective management and utilization of data assets. The incumbent will lead initiatives to enhance data quality, integrity, and accessibility, enabling the delivery of high-quality IT services throughout the organization.

The position will interact with several levels in the organization and will be critical in establishing good relationships with numerous operational areas and with other global functions.

What will you do in this role

• Develop and maintain a robust data architecture framework supporting the CMDB and ServiceNow Platform, aligning with organizational goals and best practices.
• Establish and enforce governance policies and standards for CMDB data management, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
• Identify and implement process improvements related to data management and CMDB practices, including data modeling, taxonomy development, and data lifecycle management.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to define data requirements, establish data quality metrics, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Analyze, design, and develop solutions and implementation plans based on current versus future state architectures that align with business needs.
• Lead the definition and implementation of high-level requirements, principles, and models that guide solution decisions.
• Conduct architecture evaluations and collaborate with delivery squads to develop solution architectures that fit business needs.
• Analyze current solution architecture to detect deficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Define data products to meet enterprise requirements for IT data domain assets, collaborate with IT sub-domain leads to ensure data products are correctly categorized, and develop data roadmaps for future state requirements.
• Ensure data quality needs are met, including metadata in the data catalog.
• Communicate changes to data subscribers and constituents.
• Develop and monitor KPIs and metrics to assess the health and performance of the CMDB and data architecture, providing regular updates to leadership.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including policies, procedures, and training materials, to support effective data management practices.
• Engage with process owners, product managers, and senior leadership to communicate data architecture strategies and advocate for necessary investments.

What should you have

Required

• Proficiency with ServiceNow CMDB, Common Service Data Model (CSDM), Foundation Data, and data management best practices.
• MSc Degree or BSc Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience in data architecture, data management, or related fields.
• Strong project management skills with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
• Experience with data modelling, data governance, and data quality management.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred

• Experience with additional ServiceNow capabilities (e.g., Hardware Asset Management, Software Asset Management, Operational Technology Management, Digital Portfolio Management, Discovery, Service Mapping, Service Graph Connectors).
• Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques.
