Role Overview

We are looking for a Junior Buyer & Merchandiser to support end-to-end product lifecycle – from range planning and inventory management and sell-through analysis. This role sits at the intersection of design, production, operations, and sales, ensuring we have the right product, in the right quantities, at the right price, at the right time, across all channels (website, marketplaces, and retail).

You will work closely with vendors, factories, internal design/production teams, and retail/e-commerce teams to execute the merchandise plan and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Range Planning & Merchandising

  • Support in building seasonal merchandise plans across categories, price points, and channels.
  • Assist in deciding which designs to launch, when, and in which channel (website, retail, marketplaces).
  • Help create and maintain assortment mixes by category, style, size, colour, and price band.
  • Coordinate with design/PD teams to align new collections with market trends, brand identity, and commercial targets.

2. Production & Vendor Management

  • Track POs, production timelines and delivery status with vendors.
  • Maintain clear documentation for purchase orders, style sheets and vendor communication.
  • Escalate delays, quality issues, or capacity constraints to the senior merchandiser/buyer.
  • Build day-to-day working relationships with factory merchandisers, QA teams and warehouse teams.

3. Inventory & Sales Analysis

  • Monitor stock levels across warehouses and stores; identify fast-movers, slow-movers and non-movers.
  • Assist in reorder planning: quantities, sizes, and timelines based on sales trends and targets.
  • Prepare regular sales & inventory reports (category-wise, style-wise, size-wise, channel-wise).
  • Support decisions on markdowns, promotions, and liquidation for slow-moving inventory.

4. Launch Execution & E-commerce Coordination

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for new launch readiness – samples, barcodes, packaging, pricing, shoot samples, etc.
  • Share accurate product data (MRP, cost, colour, size runs, style names) with e-commerce/marketing/retail teams.
  • Ensure on-time listing of products with correct details, images, size curves and availability.
  • Support launch calendars and drop plans based on the merchandising strategy.

5. Process, Systems & Documentation

  • Maintain updated merch trackers, buy sheets, PO trackers, T&A (time & action) calendars.
  • Work on Excel/Google Sheets, WMS/ERP tools (Uniware), and any internal systems for inventory and order management.
  • Assist in implementing standard operating procedures for buying, merchandising and replenishment.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical & numerical skills – comfort with Excel/Google Sheets (pivots, basic formulas, lookups).
  • Understanding of retail metrics – sell-through, margins, contribution, stock turn, cover, etc. (can be trained).
  • Basic knowledge/interest in materials, footwear/apparel production, and sourcing.
  • High ownership, follow-through and attention to detail – from style codes to size curves and timelines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth D2C environment.

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Management, Merchandising, Business, Commerce, Textile/Fashion, or related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in buying/merchandising/inventory/production/supply chain in footwear, fashion, apparel, or accessories. Internships in similar roles will be considered.
  • Experience with D2C brands, e-commerce or retail is a plus.
