As a Data Scientist, you'll use data translation skills to work closely with business stakeholders to define detailed business questions, problems or opportunities which can be supported through advanced analytics, making sure new and existing solutions are designed with a Group mindset.

You'll also understand the complex requirements and needs of business stakeholders along with developing strong relationships, forming hypotheses and identifying suitable data and analytics solutions to meet those needs in order to support our business strategy.

In addition, you'll be:

• Articulating advanced data and analytics opportunities, bringing them to life through data visualisation in a way that business stakeholders can understand and engage with understanding the benefits, trade-offs and ethics
• Leading both direct reports and wider teams in an agile way within multi-disciplinary data and analytics teams to achieve agreed project and scrum outcomes
• Selecting, building, training and testing complex machine learning models considering model valuation, model risk, governance and ethics, making sure there is no bias at build to ensure models are ready to implement and scale
• Leading and delivering stakeholder engagement activities to develop effective project working relationships making sure that stakeholder needs and concerns are identified and met
• Identifying opportunities to support our external customers using data science expertise and capability aligned to our Group strategy
• Exploring data, making sure golden source data is used appropriately to identify the correct approaches to extract the most value and establishing best practice for machine learning development, data access and procurement

We're looking for someone who comes from an academic background in a STEM discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Computer Science and understands exploratory data analysis. You'll have experience with statistical modelling and machine learning techniques along with programming language and software engineering fundamentals.

You'll also have:

• 15+ years of experience in Python and ML libraries, experienced with cloud platforms (AWS, Google AI, IBM Watson) for model deployment, and familiar with web technologies and distributed systems
• Skilled in building autonomous AI systems using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, and MCP, with strong knowledge of LLMs, transformer architectures, and NLP techniques
• Strong foundation in ML concepts, predictive modelling, deep learning, and optimization; capable of managing and deploying large language models with domain insights
• Good financial services knowledge, and the ability to identify wider business impact, risk and opportunities, making connections across key outputs and processes
• The ability to use data to solve business problems from hypotheses through to resolution
• Experience in synthesising, translating and visualising data and insights for key stakeholders
• Leadership and coaching experience along with good knowledge of Cloud applications
• Good communication skills with the ability to proactively engage and manage a wide range of stakeholders
